riot!

im pissed cuz i had this post basically finished but i dont understand yet how dreamwidth works so i lost the draft. i still can't make a true ranking of the songs so this is a post with favorite lyrics from each song. also this is my first time trying to make a post here with nicer formatting so. enjoy

TRACK ONE: For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic

You were finished long before
we had even seen the start

TRACK TWO: That's What You Get

Cause I burned every bridge I ever
built when you were still here
I still try holding onto
silly things, I never lean

TRACK THREE: Hallelujah

Let's make it last forever
Got nothing but time on our hands

TRACK FOUR: Misery Business

It was never my intention to brag,
to steal it all away from you now
But God, does it feel so good

TRACK FIVE: When It Rains

And you'll sleep till May, and you'll say
you don't want to see the sun again
You can take your time, take my time
TRACK SIX: Let The Flames Begin

I believe there's hope burried beneath it all and
hiding beneath it all and growing beneath it all

TRACK SEVEN: Miracle

Well I've gone for too long living like I'm not alive so
I'm gonna start over tonight beginning with you and I

TRACK EIGHT: crushcrushcrush

Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
than have to forget you for one whole minute

TRACK NINE: We Are Broken

And under the red lights,
I'll show myself it wasn't forged

TRACK TEN: Fences

You're always on display for
everyone to watch and learn from
Don't you know by now? You can't turn back
because this road is all you'll ever have

TRACK ELEVEN: Born For This

Right now, you're the only
reason I'm not letting go

TRACK TWELVE: Stop This Song (Love Sick Melody)

You say the sweetest things and I can't stop my
heart from singing along to the sound of your song

TRACK THIRTEEN: Rewind - Demo

Make it quick, make it painless
Don't tell me lies, just say goodbye

THE END.

this was so much effort it'll take me a while to do the brand new eyes post probably. but i hope some of these are rotatable in some way

i know that subconsciously have all these lyrics in my memory but it's too hard to recall so i'm listening to the whole album... i was going to pick out favorite lyrics from every song too but i don't have the energy for that rn so here's just my live commentary as i listen...

> i wish for a pessimist i'm pretty optimistic was a more interesting song, but the only part i really like is the "what did you think i would say, no you can't run away, you can't run away" bit
> THAT'S WHAT YOU GET INTRO RIPPPPPPSSSSS
> i feel like that's what you get was never one of my fav songs off this album when i used to like it but i'm enjoying it so much rn
> no thoughts on hallelujah... it was never one of my favs either but i'm still not a fan lol...
> wait the bridge goes a little
> MISERY BUSINESS G.O.A.T. FOREVER
> "two weeks and we had caught on fire" is a rlly good lyric
> this song is seriously so epic even after all this time
> when it rains is such a downer after misery business, but tbf almost anything would be
> the lyrics are pretty rotatable tho, so at least it has that going for it
> i'm enjoying the imagery of the lyrics in let the flames begin
> "when this memory fades, i'm gonna make sure it's replaced with chances taken, hope embraced" is a nice lyric but the rest of miracle is so generic omfg
> FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING MUSIC (crushcrushcrush)
> "if you wanna play it like a game, well come on come on, let's play"
> "rock and roll, baby, don't you know that we're all alone now, gimme something to sing about"
> the whole chorus honestly owns, i have no idea what this song is supposed to mean but it's great
> i'm going to skip we are broken.......................
> fences is so fun, i love ska paramore
> you could rotate dysfunctional idolverse to this,, delicious
> fences is probably my 2nd fav song after misery business (crushcrushcrush #3)
> born for this is like let the flames begin but slappier
> best lyrics: "oh no, i just keep on falling back to the same old, and where's hope when misery comes crawling?" & "it takes acquired minds to taste, to taste, to taste this wine"
> i don't have stop this song & rewind on my version of the album on spotify so i have to go to youtube to listen to them. i remember having stop this song on the illegal dl i had of the album years ago but idt i've ever heard rewind.. so this'll be fun
> stop this song totally sounds like something off all we know but also it sounds like that song they did for the twilight soundtrack
> also it slightly reminds me of razia's shadow... i can't explain why or how tho, probably the spiders part
> rewind... is definitely rough... it has a lot of potential tho, i wonder why they never made a finished version of it
> i wonder who was writing paramore's lyrics at this stage bc they definitely don't hold up to their contemporaries (all the other fueled by ramen groups: fall out boy, panic at the disco, cobra starship) but hayley was only like 17 when this album came out i think? so i'm listening to this whole thing like... she obviously has a beautiful powerful voice but the words feel underformed ?

OK I'M DONE... SORRY FOR THIS LONG AND RAMBLING COMMENT
